"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) Most believers are familiar with this verse and they know when we confess our sins God forgives our sins. Now read Isaiah 43:25. "I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." Because of what Christ did on the cross, God blotts out our confessed sins and He forgets them. They didn't happen. That's how good Christ is. When we brew, stew, ruminate, and fret over already confessed sins that God has blotted out, we are operating as though Christ isn't good enough to take care of our sin problems. When you think about it like this, who is better at taking care of your sins, you? Of course your methods for dealing with sin are not as sufficient as God's plan - so stop operating as though it is. Confess known sins (once) and get back in the battle. Spiritual warfare is real and He wants you in the battle. When you are on the sideline worrying about already forgotten sins, you have become a casualty of the war.
